Module 4

I have heard of flickr and that it is a good way to do a copyright free search but have not really explored it.  I found flickr to be very easy to use.  I had no trouble uploading my photos.  The photos I uploaded were from when I back packed around Europe for 10 weeks.

I was conscious to choose photos that did not have any people in them.  There has been a lot of interest in the media regarding facebook photos.  See the wordle below I created that shows the headlines of different articles about facebook photos over the past couple months in the Sydney Morning Herald.

I found the Smart Copying website very helpful.  I think it s a great resource to find answers to all those copyright questions I have and have never thought of.     The video about creative commons was very interesting.  I tend to forget that pictures have copyright. I need to get into the habit of doing a creative commons search every time I search for images- its not hard to do!

Flickr could be useful in the classroom as it has a multitude of pictures on a variety of topics.  For example searching great wall china found 200,434 results within a milli second.  When I searched under creative commons 31,319 of those photos were copyright free.  Flickr could also be useful for teachers to have collection of photos saved on the web for use in the classroom.
